What is Profhilo?
Profhilo® is a hyaluronic acid skin revitaliser which is different to Botox and dermal fillers in its application and results. Profhilo takes around 10 minutes to administer and lasts up to 6 months. Profhilo requires 2 treatment sessions, 4 weeks apart and is administered in to 5 injection points on the face and stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin.
Profhilo is effective due to the slow release of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar within the skin, connective tissues and joints. HA can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water and therefore is a super-hydrator for the skin.
How does Profhilo work?
The stimulation of collagen and elastin fibres results in significant improvement in the renewed quality of the skin tissues.
Profhilo is not a dermal filler in that it will not ‘fill’ specific areas of the skin, and it is not a muscle relaxant as is Botox.
Profhilo delivers an overall effect of luminosity and hydration, granting it the title ‘injectable moisturiser’ in the UK aesthetics industry. It can complement other aesthetic treatments by significantly improving the quality of skin tissue and is one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market.
Is Profhilo safe?
Following its launch in 2015, Profhilo has been used globally for over 150,000 patients and so far, there have been no adverse reactions reported. This is largely since Profhilo is made from ultrapure HA with no chemical cross linking agents. This significantly reduces the risk of adverse reactions and makes the product well tolerated by the skin.
